The problem
Hardness is a slow, expensive nuisance
Water in central Ohio moves through limestone before it reaches your tap, and it brings calcium and magnesium along. City treatment plants remove what makes water unsanitary. They do not remove hardness, because hardness is not their job.
In the house it shows up as film on glassware, crust on faucets, stiff towels, and soap that will not quite lather. The part you cannot see costs more: scale is an insulator, and as it builds inside a water heater, the heater burns more energy to deliver the same hot shower. Appliances that live on hot water age fastest of all.

Premier Series is the starting point for most hard water homes here. Non-electric, twin tank, metered, and quiet about all of it. Higher flow configurations cover larger homes, and well water options are added when your test calls for them.
Signature Series is the same non-electric, twin tank idea in a smaller footprint, and the right answer when the space beside your water heater is tight.

Sizing
Two numbers decide the size
The first is your hardness, measured at your own kitchen sink rather than guessed from a map. The second is peak flow, meaning how much water the house can call for at once, which is why we ask about bathrooms. A three bathroom house with a morning rush behaves differently from a two bathroom house with one person in it, even on identical water.
Undersized, a softener works constantly and still lets hardness through when the house is busy. Oversized, you paid for capacity that sits idle. Neither is necessary, because the numbers that get it right take about twenty minutes to collect.

A straight answer on cost
Every quote is written from your test results and your peak demand, so the number reflects your house rather than an average. Financing is available, and we walk through the options at the visit.
You get the price in writing, and every quote is good for a year. Nothing expires at midnight.

What installation actually involves
Most installations take about half a day. We shut the water off for a short stretch while we make the connections, set the bypass so future service never interrupts the house, and haul away the old equipment if there is any.
Before we leave, we test the water at the tap with you, walk through the system, and make sure you know what the salt cabinet wants from you, which is not much.
On wells
Well water homes, one extra step
Softeners on private wells often need a partner: iron or sediment filtration placed ahead of the softener, so the well's minerals never reach the resin. Your test tells us whether that applies to you before anything is quoted. There is more on this on our water problems page.
