The test
About the free water test
Is it really free?
Yes. Twenty minutes at your kitchen sink, written results you keep, and no obligation attached. If the water is fine we say so and leave it there.
What do you test for?
Hardness in grains per gallon, iron, pH and total dissolved solids, measured at the tap you actually use. Well water can carry more variables, and the same visit covers those when they appear.
Do I need a test if my water seems fine?
If nothing at home bothers you, maybe not. Most people book the test because something already does: spots on dishes, orange stains, a taste or a smell. The test turns that annoyance into a number, and the number into a plan.
The equipment
About Kinetico systems
What makes Kinetico different from a timer softener?
Kinetico units run on water power and regenerate based on the water your household actually uses, not a clock. Twin tanks mean soft water even during regeneration, there are no electronics to fail, and metered regeneration is why they can use up to 75% less salt than timer based units.
Will softened water taste salty?
No. The exchange that softens water adds only a small amount of sodium, well below what taste picks up. For drinking and cooking, many customers pair the softener with a K5 station at the sink, which is its own filtration entirely.
What maintenance does a softener need?
Salt, and very little else. Because regeneration follows your actual use, salt consumption is modest, and we deliver it if you would rather not carry bags downstairs.
Cost and service
About buying and owning one
What does a system cost?
It depends on your water and your household, which is why we test first. Your exact price comes from the test, in writing, and every quote is good for a year. Financing is available, and we go through the options at the visit.
How long does installation take?
Typically about half a day, done by our own technicians rather than subcontractors. We arrive when we said we would and leave the work area the way we found it.
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes. If you have moved into a home with a Kinetico system, or bought one elsewhere, we can service it, and plenty of our service customers started exactly that way.
Still have a question?
Call and ask a person, or book the test and ask everything at your own sink.
