Why test your water?
The quality of your water goes beyond taste. It affects your plumbing, your appliances and your everyday comfort, and many issues are invisible without testing.
We test for hardness, iron, pH and total dissolved solids at your home and explain every result. For a more detailed analysis, we can send a sample to a certified laboratory.

Unusual taste or odor
A metallic, chlorine-like or rotten-egg smell can point to a water issue.
Staining or buildup
Rust, blue-green stains or white scale on fixtures and appliances.
Cloudy or discolored water
A change in clarity or color can mean sediment or other issues.
A new home or a well
Conditions vary, so testing matters when you move or rely on a well.
When to test your home’s water
If you have moved
Water quality varies with location and source. Even if your new home has a treatment system, a test confirms it is handling your current water.
If you have a private well
Private wells are not regulated, so testing is up to the homeowner. Regular testing finds common issues like iron, sulfur and hardness.
If you notice odor or taste
Iron can leave a metallic aftertaste and chlorine a bleach-like smell, affecting everything from coffee to recipes.
If you see spots, stains or buildup
Stains in sinks, buildup on showerheads and spots on dishes are often the first signs of a water problem.

Water hardness
Calcium and magnesium leave buildup on sinks and showers, spot your dishes, and reduce the efficiency of pipes and appliances. We measure hardness in grains per gallon.

Total dissolved solids
TDS is a mix of minerals, metals and salts. High levels can make water cloudy or give it a metallic or bitter taste.

Iron, pH and hydrogen sulfide
Iron stains fixtures and laundry, acidic water corrodes copper plumbing, and hydrogen sulfide brings the rotten-egg odor. Nitrates, common in some wells, can only be found by testing.
Why test with Cardinal Water Solutions?
Your water test is free and comes with no obligation. We explain the results in plain language, recommend a Kinetico system only if your water calls for one, and put the recommendation in writing.
