How we got started
In 2004, a Columbus homeowner named Mike had been dealing with hard water his whole adult life. Scale on the shower, spotted dishes, dry skin after every shower, and a water heater that died young. A neighbor mentioned Kinetico. He got a demo, was impressed by the non-electric design, and decided he wanted to help other Columbus homeowners dealing with the same problems.
Cardinal Water Solutions started as a one-truck operation. Mike took every job himself the first two years. Word spread through Dublin, Westerville, and Gahanna. By 2008 he had two trucks and a part-time office manager. Today we have a full team of certified technicians and have installed systems in more than 2,400 Central Ohio homes.
We have never sold a different brand. We chose Kinetico in 2004 because the product was better, and nothing has changed our mind since. We still see the systems we installed 20 years ago running without issues. That is rare in this industry.

When we started Cardinal Water Solutions, we spent months evaluating water treatment brands. We chose Kinetico for three reasons: the systems are non-electric, so they keep running during power outages and have no circuit boards to fail; they regenerate on actual water demand instead of a timer, so they waste less salt and water; and they are made in Ohio.

We have watched competitor brands come and go over 22 years. Their systems get cheaper to build, warranties shrink, and parts become unavailable. A Kinetico softener from 2004 still runs the same way it did the day it was installed. That is not marketing, it is what we see in homes around Columbus every day.

Our certified water treatment technicians have more than 60 combined years of experience in the field. Every technician is background-checked, arrives in uniform with company ID, and completes ongoing Kinetico certification training. We do not use subcontractors. The person who installs your system is the same person you can call with questions later.
